Environmental, Social and Governance Statement

Leeson Valuers is committed to a diverse and ethics based approach to environmental, social and governance (ESG).  We strive to build sustainable, equitable, healthy and diverse practices through our ethical approach to business, combined with strong environmental, social and governance performance. This commitment informs every aspect of our business.

1. Environmental

At Leeson Valuers we take seriously our responsibility to care for and protect the environment in which we operate.  We are fully committed to improving environmental performance across all of our business activities, and will encourage our business partners and members of the wider community to share that commitment.

Leeson Valuers recognises our key impacts to be in the areas of vegetation & weed management, transport/travel, CO² emissions, energy use, recycling/waste and cultural heritage.

Recycling

We strive to ensure environmentally sound and sustainable development of the company in the short and long term and to minimize negative impact on the environment. We have a number of waste management initiatives implemented across our offices aimed at recycling plastics and minimizing paper usage.  For example we only use 100% PEFC recycled paper and all ink cartridges are recycled through “Close the Loop” recycling.  All drink containers are collected, sorted and recycled by a staff member.

Energy Usage

We are committed to driving down our energy and carbon impacts, as we believe that climate change is one of the greatest risks to our world. Our sustainability program is committed to environmentally sustainable initiatives that deliver near-term efficiency, value, and health for our business.  Our office utilises 100% green energy through our contract with Origin Energy and LED energy efficient lighting.

Motor Vehicles

We are transitioning all company owned vehicles from diesel to hybrid vehicles.  Due to the nature of our business, and remote working conditions, electric vehicles at this point are not appropriate for our needs.  By 2026 we aim to have 30% of our fleet converted to hybrid vehicles, and 100% by 2030.

2. Social

Corporate social responsibility is an important part of our activities. We make sure that we look after our own people by providing excellent training and professional development opportunities. We also have a long history of providing meaningful and rewarding career paths to our employees.

We employ mature age and/or female graduate trainees who are supported through their professional training to become Certified Practising Valuers.  All graduates continue to be employed with Minsol Group/Leeson Valuers.

Health and Safety

The health and safety of our employees, vendors and customers is of the utmost importance to us. Our Health and Safety policy is adopted to ensure safety in our work practices and the occupational health, safety and wellbeing of employees.

Domestic and Family Violence

Leeson Valuers is strongly committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees. It is recognised that employees sometimes face difficult situations in their work and personal life, such as domestic and family violence (DFV), that may affect their attendance, performance at work or safety.  Confidential support and leave entitlements for DFV are offered to all our employees if required.

Diversity and Inclusion

We embrace and value diversity in all its forms, whether gender, age, ethnicity or cultural background. Equal opportunity is integral to our recruitment process, and we have a diverse workplace with talented people from varying nationalities and genders. We seek to maintain a positive workplace, free from discrimination and harassment. We champion mutual respect and promoting an environment of fairness and equality.

We employ 50% female staff members.

Over the next 3-5 years we will increase our spending with First Nations businesses by 5% YoY.

Supporting our Communities

We support and sponsor charitable events.  For example we sponsor the Coraki Veteran’s Golf Day each year and have done for many years.  We regularly support various clients’ charitable events by attending their functions in support of many worthy causes.

Modern Slavery

We are committed to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking. We recognise that slavery and human trafficking is a real yet hidden issue in our society. We will not tolerate slavery and human trafficking in our business or supply chain.

3. Governance

We consider governance practices to be essential.  This includes a sound approach to corporate governance that aims to comply with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and policies, as well as adherence to corporate values and business principles.

The Australian Property Institute (API) Rules of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics set our expectations of professional conduct and behaviour for our valuers in their everyday professional practice.

Our valuers comply with the International Valuation Standards (IVS) produced and published by the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) and adopted by the API and the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia (AVAA).

We value diversity and inclusion - we employ 50% female staff members.

We only purchase 100% PEFC recycled paper.  Our corporate office utilises 100% green energy.

Leeson Valuers have never had a professional claim lodged against us in our 35 years in business.
